Year-round rentals from Barry's Bay Cottages.
Rentals allow you to explore our lake or trails. Please see our rentals below but note that during COVID-19 not everything is available.
Fishing is another popular pastime on Carson Lake. In addition to smallmouth bass, the lake is a renowned lake trout destination and also holds some whitefish. Lakers are often caught through the ice in winter, but can also create a dynamic fishery in the spring and fall.
The season runs from January 1st until the end of September and there are slot size restrictions (all lake trout between 40 and 55 cm (15.5-21.5 inches must be released). The bass season opens the 4th Saturday in June and runs through to the end of November. They can be quite active throughout the summer and are typically caught across from the resort along the drop-off areas, although they can even be caught off of our docks from time to time.
Early September is another prime time to try for the hard fighting lake trout. Since there is no public boat launch onto the lake, motorboat rentals are available for those that pre-book.
During winter, ice fishing huts are available for those who pre-book. Lakers are often caught through the ice in winter.
There are trails for cross-country skiing and cross-country skis for rent.
Onsite, we have a nature trail that is perfect for walking (and walking your dog guests!) to get some peace and reconnect with nature. We recommend an early morning walk through the quiet trees.
Family raft trips and kayaking is offered at the Madawaska Kanu Centre, while all paddlers can take advantage of the 50% discount Algonquin Bound Outfitters is offering our guests in 2020 Algonquin Bound Outfitters.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, each cottage is being equipped with a canoe and paddles and guests are encouraged to bring their own lifejackets. Kayaks and paddleboards are available through Algonquin Bound or outfitters in town.
ATVers should note that they are allowed on municipal roads in the district, which makes it possible to ride from the resort to link up with the B102 or other trails in the immediate area. Across from 612 Arbor Vitae Road, there is a signed trail trail that accesses a system of old roads and trails that links to the B102. Please be careful not to cross private property when accessing the trail systems. Further afield, there is the Thomas P Murray trails south of town off Highway 62, while west of the resort, the new Spectacle Lake, Bear and Brunett Mountains Trail system offers some ATVing around Brunetts Pond and the lookout.
Whether you're here to relax and escape the city or try a new outdoor activity, we offer many amenities and rentals. The town of Barry's Bay also has lots to explore, as well.
